IAS Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship
Welcome to the IAS Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program
It is hard to believe another group of fellows has come and gone - miss you already!
Remember to visit often to find out when we will be accepting applications for 2014!
The IAS Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program has a goal of promoting the inclusion of persons with physical disabilities in biomedical science careers through assistive technology development, student and educator support services and research. Our aim is to encourage talented undergraduate students with physical disabilities like you that are interested in biomedical science related careers to engage in laboratory research and enhance your preparation for graduate study.
If selected for this program, you will be paired with a faculty mentor who will work with you to design and conduct a research project on a topic related to their research in biomedical science. In addition, through IAS-specific activities you will have a unique opportunity to actively contribute to an improved understanding of the issues students with physical disabilities face in pursuing a career in biomedical science.
Selection will be based on perceived interest in pursuing a doctoral degree, relevant college coursework and grades, letters of recommendation, and their ability to contribute to the goals of the program.

To apply, complete and submit the application form , ask the Registrar(s) of universities you are attending and have previously attended to send us a copy of your transcript(s), and contact two faculty members to send us letters of recommendation for you. Since the program fills quickly, application materials should be sent as soon as possible.
It is hard to believe the IAS SURF program is in its 6th week - time certainly flies when you are embroiled in discovery!
We had a strong pool of applicants to consider this year and would like to say, Thank You, to all of you for your interest in our program - we hope to continue the program and look forward to reviewing a combination of new and hopefully even repeat applicants next year!
